Privacy & email
Singularity is an online game in alpha. This page covers the email it sends, the information it stores about players, and how to get it removed. Last updated September 2026.
Exactly two kinds, both transactional, and both triggered by the person receiving them:
There is no marketing email — no newsletter, no announcements, no promotions, and no list to subscribe to. If you never register, you never hear from us.
This is what a verification email looks like:
Welcome, pilot.
Enter this code on the Singularity sign-up screen to confirm your email and finish creating your account.
The code works for 24 hours. Never share this code: Singularity will never ask you for it.
Someone entered this address on the Singularity registration screen. If that wasn't you, ignore this email and no account will be created.
A password reset looks the same, titled Reset your Singularity password, with a code that works for one hour.
Mail is sent from no-reply@calibrated.info through Amazon Web Services: Amazon Cognito, the service that manages game accounts, writes it and Amazon SES delivers it. The domain calibrated.info is verified with Amazon SES and signed with DKIM, so these messages can be sent from it directly. An address that bounces or reports our mail as spam gets its account disabled.
| What | Why | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | Your login, and the two emails above | Amazon Cognito and the game database |
| Password | Signing in. We never see or store it — Cognito keeps only a secure hash. | Amazon Cognito |
| Display name | Shown in game; defaults to the part of your email before the @ | Game database |
| Characters & progress | Your pilots, ships, items, credits, skills and location | Game database |
| Account dates | When the account was created and last signed in | Game database |
| Error reports | When the game hits an error it sends the message, the game version and your operating system, so we can fix it. No personal files or keystrokes. | Server logs |
| Connection logs | IP address and requested page, for security and troubleshooting; rotated automatically | Server logs |
The game database and server run in the United States (Hetzner, Ashburn, Virginia), with nightly backups kept for 14 days. Account sign-in runs on Amazon Cognito in AWS's US East region.
To keep you signed in, the game stores a sign-in token on your machine. It also remembers the email and password you last signed in with, so the login screen can fill them in. On Windows both are encrypted with Windows' built-in data protection, tied to your Windows user account; other programs running under your Windows login could read them, so don't use the remember feature on a shared account. A password that stops working is forgotten automatically.
